$45 became the standard first checked bag fee at most large US airlines in spring 2026. JetBlue moved first on March 30, and United, Delta, Southwest, American and Alaska followed by April 10. Air Canada and Porter raised fees on North American flights soon after. New fees apply to tickets bought on or after the change date.

40 x 30 x 15 cm is the only free bag on Lufthansa Group's Economy Basic fare, launched for travel from May 19, 2026 on selected European routes. Carry-on and checked bags became paid add-ons on that fare. IndiGo added a Lite fare on July 1, 2026 with a 7 kg cabin bag only, and Air Canada Economy Basic has allowed only a personal item on North American routes since January 2025.
