Air Busan allows one cabin bag of up to 10 kg, with sides no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm (115 cm total), plus a laptop bag or small handbag under 60 cm. No-frills/regular fares include 15 kg of checked baggage on domestic and most international routes. Special/event fares include no free checked bag, so buy prepaid kilos online at least two days before departure.
Each passenger may bring one cabin bag. Its three sides must add up to 115 cm or less, and no single side may exceed 40 cm wide, 20 cm deep or 55 cm high, wheels and handles included. A bag that is over on even one side is refused in the cabin. On international flights an oversized cabin bag is checked at the gate for a fee, so a second bag should go to the counter before security.
On top of the main cabin bag, Air Busan lets you carry one laptop bag or small handbag whose three sides total less than 60 cm. Passengers with mobility needs may also bring one assistive device such as a wheelchair, and families may bring one infant item such as a stroller. Bulky comfort gadgets like inflatable footrests and bed boxes are banned on board.
Yes. The cabin bag limit is 10 kg on every fare, and staff can weigh it at check-in or at the gate. If the bag is too heavy on an international flight, it goes in the hold and the gate check fee applies: KRW 20,000 (USD 20 or JPY 2,000) for the first bag and KRW 100,000 for a second one. Some Chinese airports, including Qingdao and Xi'an, do not accept gate checks at all.
Two fare groups decide your checked bag. Special/event fares include no free checked baggage on any route, including Guam and Saipan. No-frills/regular fares include 15 kg on domestic flights and on international routes outside the Americas. Infants on international regular fares get 10 kg. Everyone keeps the same 10 kg cabin bag.
| FARE | DOMESTIC | INTERNATIONAL (NON-AMERICAS) | GUAM / SAIPAN |
|---|---|---|---|
| Special/Event | None | None | None |
| No-frills/Regular | 15 kg, 203 cm | 15 kg, 203 cm | Guam 2 x 23 kg, Saipan 1 x 23 kg, 158 cm |
| Infant (regular) | None | 10 kg, 203 cm | 10 kg, 203 cm |
Regular fares cover 15 kg in total, and each piece may measure up to 203 cm in length plus width plus height. The hard ceiling is 32 kg and 203 cm per bag: anything bigger needs approval from the Reservation Center, and if accepted it costs KRW 10,000 (USD 10) on top of excess charges. On Guam and Saipan flights the allowance is counted by piece, at 23 kg and 158 cm each.
Excess baggage is charged per kilo, per one-way route, at the airport. Buying prepaid kilos online is much cheaper: Japan costs KRW 12,000 per kg at the airport but KRW 40,000 per 5 kg in advance. Prepaid bags can be bought until two days before departure (Korean time) and are non-refundable after that. These rates apply to tickets issued from September 8, 2025.
Flights from Busan to Qingdao, Da Nang and Cebu have lower rates: KRW 4,000 to 5,000 per kg at the airport and KRW 14,000 to 18,000 per 5 kg prepaid.
| ROUTE | PREPAID ONLINE | AT THE AIRPORT |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic | KRW 10,000 / 5 kg | KRW 3,000 / kg (Jeju KRW 2,000) |
| Japan | KRW 40,000 / 5 kg | KRW 12,000 / kg |
| China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan | KRW 50,000 / 5 kg | KRW 15,000 / kg |
| Southeast Asia, Mongolia | KRW 60,000 / 5 kg | KRW 18,000 / kg |
| Bali | KRW 70,000 / 5 kg | KRW 21,000 / kg |
| Guam | KRW 35,000 / piece | KRW 50,000 per extra piece or overweight bag |
Small dogs, cats and birds can travel in the cabin when the pet and its carrier together weigh about 7 kg or less, and larger animals go in the hold. Air Busan's pet page did not load for us, so the carrier size and the per-route pet fee should be checked with the Reservation Center before booking. Pets do not count toward your free baggage allowance.
Golf bags and other sports gear are carried as ordinary checked baggage. They share the 15 kg free allowance with your suitcases, and every extra kilo is billed at the excess rate for the route. A 10 kg suitcase and a 10 kg golf bag on a Busan to Japan flight run 5 kg over, which costs KRW 60,000 at the airport. Prepaying the extra kilos online is cheaper.
| EXAMPLE | EXCESS | CHARGE |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic: 10 kg case + 10 kg golf bag | 5 kg | KRW 15,000 |
| Japan: 10 kg case + 10 kg golf bag | 5 kg | KRW 60,000 |
| China: 10 kg case + 10 kg golf bag | 5 kg | KRW 75,000 |
| Southeast Asia: 10 kg case + 10 kg golf bag | 5 kg | KRW 90,000 |
