One carry-on of up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm (22 x 18 x 10 in) and 7 kg (15 lb) is allowed in every cabin. Wheels, handles and side pockets count toward the size. Star Alliance Gold members in Royal First, Royal Silk and Premium Economy Plus may bring 1 more carry-on, but Gold members in Economy get no extra piece.
A handbag, purse, wallet or laptop up to 37.5 x 25 x 12.5 cm (15 x 10 x 5 in) and 1.5 kg (3.3 lb) rides free on top of your carry-on. Walking aids and infant food are also carried free. Anything bigger than that small-item limit counts as your one carry-on.
Yes, the 7 kg (15 lb) limit can be checked on a scale. THAI says staff may spot check bags with a sizer and a weighing machine at the check-in counter or the boarding gate. The free laptop or handbag has its own 1.5 kg cap.
On international routes, Saver and Standard include 1 checked piece of 23 kg (50 lb), and Flexi and Full Flex include 2. Redeem award tickets in Economy sit with Saver at 1 piece. On Thai domestic flights the fare makes no difference: every Economy and Premium Economy fare gets 1 piece of 23 kg. The carry-on rule of 1 bag at 7 kg is the same on every fare.
The booking class letter on your ticket (W, L, X or N for Saver) tells you the allowance faster than the fare name.

From Bangkok, an extra piece costs THB 630 prepaid to a Thai domestic city and THB 6,950 prepaid to Zone 5, which covers most of Europe. Buying at the airport raises those to THB 755 and THB 8,340. A third extra piece costs double that: THB 13,900 prepaid to Zone 5. Online purchase must be made at least 24 hours before departure on THAI-operated flights.

Economy and Premium Economy pieces may weigh 23 kg (50 lb), and pieces in Premium Economy Plus, Royal Silk and Royal First may weigh 32 kg (70 lb). Each bag must measure 158 cm (62 in) or less when you add height, width and length, wheels and handles included. THAI does not take pieces over 32 kg as baggage.
A 23 kg piece that weighs 23 to 32 kg costs 1x the airport zone rate. Passengers with a 32 kg allowance cannot pay for overweight, because 32 kg is the ceiling. A bag of 158 to 200 cm (62 to 79 in) also costs 1x the zone rate, and bulky bags of 200 to 330 cm (79 to 130 in) add another 1x.
Royal Orchid Plus Platinum members get 2 extra pieces, and Gold and Star Alliance Gold members get 1. Silver members also get 1 extra piece, capped at 23 kg even in premium cabins. Gold pieces weigh up to 32 kg in First, Business and Premium Economy Plus. THAI publishes no military or credit card allowance.
