Air India's Economy allowance to Europe and the UK is two 23 kg (50 lb) pieces on Classic and Flex fares and one on Value, with a 7 kg cabin bag of 55 x 40 x 20 cm. On flights within India, Economy Value includes 15 kg and Flex 25 kg. Indian security rules cap every passenger at one piece of hand baggage.
Two 23 kg (50 lb) pieces is the Economy allowance on Classic and Flex fares to Europe and the UK, while Value fares there get one. Premium Economy also gets two 23 kg pieces, and Business and First get two 32 kg (70 lb) pieces. Every passenger can bring one cabin bag of 7 kg in Economy and Premium Economy or 10 kg in Business and First.
Air India sells Economy in three brands, Value, Classic and Flex, and the brand sets the checked allowance more than the cabin does.

Routes to the USA, Canada, UK and Europe use the piece system, with 23 kg pieces in Economy and 32 kg pieces in Business and First. Gulf, Middle East and South East Asia routes use weight instead: 25 kg on Economy Value, 30 kg on Classic and 35 kg on Flex. For North America, Air India's two tables disagree on Economy Value, so we flag that row.

Your cabin bag can measure 55 x 40 x 20 cm (21 x 15 x 7 in), with a total of no more than 115 cm (45 in). In Economy and Premium Economy it can weigh 7 kg (15 lb); Business and First raise that to 10 kg (22 lb). Indian security rules limit everyone to one piece of hand baggage, whatever the fare or status. The page doesn't say whether wheels and handles count.
The one-piece limit comes from Indian security regulations and applies on international flights too.
One personal item of up to 3 kg (6 lb) is allowed on top of the cabin bag, as long as it fits under the seat in front. A handbag, laptop bag or camera bag qualifies. For laptop bags Air India sets a maximum of 40 x 30 x 20 cm (15 x 11 x 7 in).
No single checked piece may weigh more than 32 kg (70 lb). Each piece can measure up to 158 cm (62 in) in length, breadth and height combined. On piece routes in Economy and Premium Economy, both pieces together must stay within 273 cm (107 in), although other Air India pages print 272 cm or 271 cm for the same rule.
Inside India, extra weight costs INR 800 per kg plus taxes. An extra piece costs USD 250 on the UK table, USD 250 or USD 240 between India and the USA depending on direction, and CAD 375 to or from Canada. A heavy piece of 23 to 32 kg adds USD 130 on USA routes and USD 100 on UK routes. Oversize bags cost INR 2,000 domestically or USD 125 internationally, and prepaying online saves up to 20%.
Star Alliance Gold members get an extra 20 kg (44 lb) in Economy. Maharaja Club Gold and Platinum members get one extra 23 kg piece on piece routes or 20 kg on weight routes, and Silver members get 5 kg on weight routes only.
Infants get 10 kg (22 lb) of checked baggage in Economy, 12 kg in Premium Economy and 15 kg in Business or First. One collapsible stroller, carrycot or infant car seat also travels free.
Yes, cats and dogs can fly in the cabin if pet and kennel together weigh 10 kg (22 lb) or less. The soft kennel can't exceed 17 x 10 x 9 in (43 x 25 x 23 cm), and only 2 pets are allowed in Economy per flight. The cabin fee is INR 7,500 domestic and USD 140 on most international routes.
