Korean Air's economy baggage allowance is one checked bag of up to 23 kg on most international routes, and two bags of 23 kg each on flights to and from the Americas. The economy carry-on is one 55 x 40 x 20 cm bag plus a personal item, 10 kg in total. Saver fares get only one 23 kg bag, even to the US.
Economy and premium seats get one checked bag of 23 kg on most international routes, and two bags of 23 kg each on flights to and from the Americas. Prestige, the business cabin, gets two bags of 32 kg each on every international route, and First gets three bags of 32 kg each. Saver fares are the exception: one 23 kg bag everywhere, the US included. SKYPASS Morning Calm members and above, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members, get one extra free bag.
Brazil follows the Americas pattern only for tickets issued from June 30, 2025; older tickets kept two 32 kg bags in every economy fare.
| CABIN / FARE | AMERICAS | OTHER INTERNATIONAL |
|---|---|---|
| Economy (Saver) | 1 x 23 kg | 1 x 23 kg |
| Economy, premium | 2 x 23 kg | 1 x 23 kg |
| Prestige | 2 x 32 kg | 2 x 32 kg |
| First | 3 x 32 kg | 3 x 32 kg |
In economy, the carry-on can measure 55 x 40 x 20 cm or 115 cm (45 in) in total, wheels and handles included. You also bring one personal item, and the two together must stay within 10 kg. Prestige and First passengers may carry two bags weighing 18 kg (40 lb) in total. These limits are identical on domestic and international flights.
| CABIN | BAGS | SIZE | WEIGHT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy / premium | 1 + personal item | 55 x 40 x 20 cm or 115 cm (45 in) | 10 kg total |
| Prestige / First | 2 | 115 cm (45 in) each | 18 kg (40 lb) total |
A personal item can measure up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm. Korean Air lists a handbag, briefcase or laptop bag as examples. It shares the 10 kg economy weight limit with your carry-on, so a heavy laptop bag eats into the suitcase's allowance.
Saver tickets include one checked bag of 23 kg on every international route. On flights to and from the US, that is half the two-bag allowance of other economy tickets. Prestige and First allowances do not change. Korean Air's baggage page names the Saver row but does not explain which booking classes count as Saver, so check the fare details at booking.

Each checked bag can measure up to 158 cm (62 in) when you add length, width and height. Economy bags are free up to 23 kg, while Prestige and First bags can weigh 32 kg. Paid overweight bands run to 45 kg, but some countries refuse any bag of 32 kg (70 lb) or more. Sizes above 203 cm, up to 292 cm, are only for pre-approved sports gear and instruments.
On Americas routes in economy, every bag beyond the second costs KRW 200,000 from Korea or USD 200 from the US. Overweight fees are KRW 100,000 / USD 100 above 23 kg up to 32 kg, and KRW 200,000 / USD 200 above 32 kg up to 45 kg. Oversize from 159 to 203 cm costs KRW 200,000 / USD 200. Korean Air charges count, weight and size fees separately. Departing Korea for Europe, Oceania, Africa or the Middle East, the second bag costs KRW 200,000. Extra bags to Japan, China and Northeast Asia run about KRW 100,000 each, and about KRW 130,000 on other Asian routes.
A bag that is both overweight and oversize pays both charges, plus any extra-piece fee.

On flights within Korea, economy passengers check up to 20 kg free and Prestige passengers up to 30 kg. Domestic allowances are set by weight, not by piece count. Carry-on rules match international flights. Weight above the free limit is charged by the kilogram, at about KRW 2,000 per kg.
Infants on international flights get one bag of 10 kg (22 lb) and 115 cm (45 in), plus a folding stroller and a car seat or bassinet. On domestic flights the infant allowance is the stroller and car seat only, with no separate bag.
Yes. Dogs, cats and pet birds aged 8 weeks or older can travel. A pet may ride in the cabin when pet and carrier together weigh 7 kg (15 lb) or less; heavier pets travel in the hold. Fees run about KRW 20,000 on domestic flights, KRW 100,000 to Japan and China, and KRW 200,000 or USD 200 on other international routes. Apply for pet carriage in advance.

No, not even 1 club. Korean aviation security law bans golf clubs from the cabin, so they must go as checked baggage. Golf bags count toward your allowance, and gear above 203 cm needs approval in advance.
Even a bag within 55 x 40 x 20 cm and 10 kg can be taken at the gate and checked if overhead space runs out. Korean Air's carry-on page states this directly. Packing to the 10 kg total, personal item included, is the limit most likely to catch economy travelers.
The integrated airline launches on December 17, 2026. Between November 2 and December 3, 2026, Asiana flight numbers convert to Korean Air numbers, and Asiana booking and ticket records move across in advance. Korean Air's announcement does not say which baggage rules apply to moved tickets. The mileage merger plan won Fair Trade Commission approval on September 15, 2026.
No, at 3 US gateways. Korean Air's baggage auto-connection service (SBT) now covers Atlanta, Los Angeles and Seattle, so bags flow through to a connecting flight without you collecting and rechecking them after US customs.
10 kg in economy, and that total includes your personal item as well as the carry-on bag. Prestige and First passengers get 18 kg (40 lb) spread across two bags.
Two bags of 23 kg each in economy and premium, unless you hold a Saver ticket, which includes one 23 kg bag. Prestige gets two 32 kg bags and First gets three.
Yes. Checked bags can measure up to 158 cm (62 in) in total. Bigger bags pay an oversize charge, which is KRW 200,000 or USD 200 for 159 to 203 cm on Americas routes.
Yes, if it fits within 40 x 30 x 15 cm. A larger backpack counts as your carry-on, which Korean Air allows up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm.
No. From November 2 to December 3, 2026, Asiana flight numbers convert to Korean Air flight numbers, and booking records move across ahead of the December 17, 2026 launch.
7 kg (15 lb) is the cabin limit for pet and carrier together. Heavier dogs and cats travel in the hold, and the fee depends on the route.
