EVA Air's economy Standard and Up fares include 2 checked pieces of 23 kg (50 lb) each, plus a 7 kg (15 lb) carry-on up to 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in). Discount economy includes 1 piece, and business gets 2 pieces of 32 kg (70 lb). From September 29, 2026, an extra piece from Taiwan to Zone 1 costs USD 160.
Economy Standard and Up fares include 2 checked pieces of 23 kg (50 lb) each, and so does every Premium Economy fare. Business, Premium Laurel and Royal Laurel passengers get 2 pieces of 32 kg (70 lb) each. The cheapest economy fare, Discount, includes 1 piece of 23 kg. EVA has counted pieces rather than total weight for tickets issued after June 22, 2022.
EVA calls its business cabins Royal Laurel and Premium Laurel on some aircraft, and both share the Business allowance.
| CABIN AND FARE | FREE CHECKED BAGS | WEIGHT PER PIECE |
|---|---|---|
| Economy Discount | 1 | 23 kg (50 lb) |
| Economy Basic | 2 long haul; 1 short haul | 23 kg (50 lb) |

Each EVA Air carry-on can measure up to 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in), or 115 cm (45 in) in total. Economy and Premium Economy passengers bring 1 piece of up to 7 kg (15 lb). Business, Premium Laurel and Royal Laurel passengers bring 2 pieces, each capped at 7 kg. A personal item comes on top of that in every class.
EVA Air allows 1 personal item of up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm (16 x 12 x 4 in), or 80 cm (32 in) in total, in every class. That size includes wheels, handles and side pockets. EVA names a purse, small backpack, briefcase, camera case, umbrella or raincoat and some duty-free shopping as examples. A laptop in a thin satchel counts as the personal item, but a bulky laptop bag uses up your carry-on allowance.
Yes, 7 kg (15 lb) is the published cap for each carry-on piece, and EVA says it rechecks cabin bags before boarding. A bag over the limit is checked at the gate. Parents can bring up to 5 kg of infant necessities such as diapers, bottles and food for the flight.
Discount is the cheapest EVA fare, with 1 free checked piece of 23 kg. Economy Basic includes 2 pieces on long-haul routes, which EVA defines as flights to or from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and about 1 piece of 23 kg within Asia. Standard and Up stay at 2 pieces of 23 kg on every route.
| ECONOMY FARE | LONG HAUL | SHORT HAUL (WITHIN ASIA) |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | 1 x 23 kg | 1 x 23 kg |
| Basic | 2 pieces | 1 x 23 kg |
| Standard | 2 x 23 kg | 2 x 23 kg |
| Up | 2 x 23 kg | 2 x 23 kg |
From Taiwan, an extra piece costs USD 160 to Zone 1 (Northeast and Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong), USD 240 to Zone 3 (Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Vancouver, Honolulu) and USD 270 to Zone 4 (other North America and Europe). These rates apply to travel on or after September 29, 2026. Prepaying at least 4 hours before departure cuts the fee by 10%. Flights departing Canada use a CAD chart, starting at CAD 340 from Zone 3 to Taiwan.
EVA prices excess bags by zone pair, so a bag from Zone 1 to Zone 2 costs more than one from Taiwan to the same zone.
Economy and Premium Economy bags can weigh up to 23 kg (50 lb) each, and business cabin bags up to 32 kg (70 lb). Every bag must stay within 158 cm (62 in) in total dimensions. Anything over 32 kg has to be repacked, and EVA sends bags over 45 kg (100 lb) or 292 cm (115 in) as cargo.
A bag over 23 kg and up to 32 kg (70 lb) costs 1 excess piece charge, and so does a bag over 158 cm up to 203 cm (80 in). Over 32 kg up to 45 kg (100 lb) costs 3 piece charges and needs EVA approval before travel. A bag over 203 cm up to 292 cm (115 in) also costs 3 piece charges. The piece charge is the zone rate in the fee chart.
EVA checks the 7 kg (15 lb) and 56 x 36 x 23 cm limits again before boarding, and bags that fail go into the hold from the gate. Business passengers have 2 pieces to work with, but each one has the same 7 kg cap.
No pets fly in EVA Air's cabin; only service dogs travel there, free of charge. Dogs, cats and rabbits can go in the hold as checked baggage. A pet and cage up to 32 kg cost 2 excess piece charges, 32 to 45 kg cost 4, and anything heavier is refused. No oversize fee applies.
Excess piece charges follow EVA's zone rates, which start at USD 160 from Taiwan to Zone 1.
| OPTION | ANIMALS | CHARGE |
|---|---|---|
| Cabin | Service dogs only | Free |
| Hold, up to 32 kg with cage | Dogs, cats, rabbits | 2 excess piece charges |
| Hold, 32 to 45 kg | Dogs, cats, rabbits | 4 excess piece charges |

Sports equipment counts as one of your free checked pieces. Items from 23 to 32 kg (50 to 70 lb) cost half an excess piece charge, 32 to 45 kg cost 3 charges, and over 45 kg is refused. There is no oversize fee up to 277 cm (109 in); above that it costs 2 charges, and over 292 cm (115 in) it flies only if it fits the hold.
Sports items not listed in EVA's table are treated as normal baggage.
Infinity MileageLands Diamond and Gold members, and Star Alliance Gold members, get about 1 extra checked piece at their cabin's weight limit: 23 kg (50 lb) in economy and premium economy, 32 kg (70 lb) in business. Check the extra piece on your booking before you travel.
