ANA Economy includes 0 to 2 checked bags of up to 23 kg (50 lb) each on international flights, depending on fare rules, and your ticket shows the exact number. Business gets 1 to 2 bags and First gets 3, at 32 kg (70 lb) each. In the cabin you get one 55 x 40 x 25 cm bag plus a personal item, 10 kg combined.
Economy on ANA international flights includes 0 to 2 checked bags of up to 23 kg (50 lb) each, set by your fare rules. Premium Economy gets 1 to 2 bags at the same 23 kg. Business gets 1 to 2 bags and First gets 3, both at 32 kg (70 lb) per bag. Every bag must stay within 158 cm (62 in) in total, wheels and handle included. ANA prints your exact allowance on the ticket, and that figure is the one it applies.
ANA does not print a route table; the allowance shown on your e-ticket is the one the check-in agent uses.
| CABIN | FREE BAGS | WEIGHT PER BAG | SIZE PER BAG |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 0 to 2 (by fare) | 23 kg (50 lb) | 158 cm (62 in) |
| Premium Economy | 1 to 2 | 23 kg (50 lb) | 158 cm (62 in) |
| Business | 1 to 2 | 32 kg (70 lb) | 158 cm (62 in) |
| First | 3 | 32 kg (70 lb) | 158 cm (62 in) |
On aircraft with 100 or more seats, your carry-on can measure 55 x 40 x 25 cm, with a 115 cm total. Smaller aircraft under 100 seats cut that to 45 x 35 x 20 cm and 100 cm in total. Wheels and handles count toward both limits. The rule applies on every fare and cabin.
Regional flights on aircraft under 100 seats use the smaller 45 x 35 x 20 cm limit, so a bag that fits on a 787 can fail at the gate in Japan.
| AIRCRAFT | CARRY-ON SIZE | TOTAL |
|---|---|---|
| 100+ seats | 55 x 40 x 25 cm | 115 cm |
| Under 100 seats | 45 x 35 x 20 cm | 100 cm |
| Measured with | Wheels and handles |
A personal item on ANA Group flights can measure up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm, the size ANA gives for flights boarding from July 1, 2026. Think handbag or shoulder bag. It has to fit completely under the seat in front of you. You get one of these in addition to one carry-on bag.
Yes, there is a 10 kg limit, and it covers your carry-on and personal item together. That combined rule is stricter than a per-bag limit, so a heavy laptop bag eats into the allowance for your roller. Japan's airline association also asks passengers to bring only bags they can lift into the overhead bin without help.
No route table is published. ANA's pages show only a range per cabin, such as 0 to 2 bags in Economy, and send you to the allowance printed on your ticket. Routes matter for fees: ANA splits the world into three areas, and an extra bag between areas costs USD 200 or JPY 20,000. Japan domestic flights from May 19, 2026 use new fares, with 1 bag on Simple and 2 on Standard and Flex, 23 kg each.
ANA's three fee areas put Hawaii with the Americas in Area 1 and Japan with Asia and Oceania in Area 3.
| ROUTE | FREE BAGS (ECONOMY) | EXTRA BAG |
|---|---|---|
| Between areas, e.g. US to Japan | 0 to 2 by fare (not published by route) | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 |
| Within one area, e.g. Chicago to Honolulu | 0 to 2 by fare (not published by route) | USD 100 / JPY 10,000 |
| Japan domestic, Simple | 1 x 23 kg | JPY 5,000 |
| Japan domestic, Standard / Flex | 2 x 23 kg | JPY 5,000 |
Economy and Premium Economy bags can weigh up to 23 kg (50 lb), while Business and First bags can weigh 32 kg (70 lb). The size cap for every cabin is 158 cm (62 in) in total length, width and height, wheels and handle included. Bags over 292 cm or 45 kg are refused as checked baggage, and ANA says smaller bulky items can also be refused on some aircraft.
An extra bag on a flight between areas, such as the US to Japan, costs USD 200 or JPY 20,000. Within one area it costs USD 100 or JPY 10,000, and within Japan JPY 5,000. Overweight bags from 23 to 32 kg cost USD 60, and 32 to 45 kg costs USD 200. Bags from 158 to 292 cm also cost USD 200. When a bag breaks two limits, ANA adds the charges together.
ANA charges in the currency of the departure country, so the same extra bag is EUR 150 leaving Europe.
| CHARGE (PER PIECE) | BETWEEN AREAS | WITHIN ONE AREA | WITHIN JAPAN |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extra piece | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 | USD 100 / JPY 10,000 | JPY 5,000 |
| 23 to 32 kg | USD 60 / JPY 6,000 | USD 60 / JPY 6,000 | JPY 1,000 |
| 32 to 45 kg | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 | JPY 5,000 |
| 158 to 292 cm | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 | USD 200 / JPY 20,000 | JPY 5,000 |
Status holders get 1 extra bag or 20 kg more than their cabin allowance. ANA Mileage Club Diamond and Platinum members qualify, as do Bronze members on international flights and Star Alliance Gold members. An infant under 2 without a seat adds 1 bag in any cabin. ANA's pages list no military or resident waiver.
No in-cabin option exists: pets travel in the cargo room, outside the free allowance, at USD 400 or JPY 40,000 per cage between areas. Within one area the fee is USD 250 or JPY 25,000, and within Japan JPY 5,000. ANA takes small domesticated mammals and birds. The cage can total 292 cm, and pet plus cage can't exceed 45 kg. Short-nosed dog breeds are refused every year from May 1 to October 31.
The summer ban on short-nosed breeds covers bulldogs, pugs, boxers and similar dogs for six months of every year.
| OPTION | FEE PER CAGE | LIMIT |
|---|---|---|
| Cabin | Not offered | |
| Cargo room, between areas | USD 400 / JPY 40,000 | 292 cm, 45 kg |
| Cargo room, within one area | USD 250 / JPY 25,000 | 292 cm, 45 kg |
| Cargo room, within Japan | JPY 5,000 | 292 cm, 45 kg |
A stroller can go on board only if it folds within 55 x 40 x 25 cm, the standard carry-on size. Otherwise ANA checks a folding stroller, portable cradle or child seat free of charge. Infants under 2 without a seat also get 1 extra checked bag.
Sports gear counts as 1 normal bag within your free allowance. That covers bicycles, surfboards, golf bags, fishing and diving gear, rackets and skis. ANA waives the oversize charge for these items from 158 to 292 cm, subject to aircraft and route limits, but weight and piece limits still apply.
The oversize waiver means a long surfboard bag costs nothing extra if it is within your piece and weight allowance.
ANA's rule is 1 carry-on and 1 personal item, 10 kg together, and its carry-on page warns that oversized cabin baggage can delay or cancel a flight. From April 1, 2026, Japanese airlines also ask you to bring only bags you can lift into the bin without help. Check the seat count of your aircraft, because the limit drops below 100 seats.
Yes, on most fares, but not all. ANA lists 0 to 2 free bags in Economy depending on fare rules, at 23 kg (50 lb) each. Your e-ticket shows the exact number for your booking.
No. The 10 kg covers your carry-on bag and personal item combined, so the two together must weigh 10 kg or less.
No. It fits on aircraft with 100 or more seats. On smaller regional aircraft the limit is 45 x 35 x 20 cm, wheels and handles included.
One extra piece costs USD 200, or JPY 20,000 when departing Japan, because the flight crosses between ANA's fee areas. A bag that is also overweight adds a separate charge.
No. ANA carries pets in the cargo room only, at USD 400 per cage between areas, and refuses short-nosed breeds from May 1 to October 31.
Yes. Star Alliance Gold members get 1 extra free bag or 20 kg more than their cabin's allowance on ANA flights.
